I found out I won passes for me and a guest to see MDO at their CD release party in NYC. I scrambled and begged my boss to leave early that day and for the next day off, because I KNEW I'd never make it back to go to work on Friday! It's Thursday morning and I am wired because I had gone to their official site and Amazon.com and heard clips of their music. They 'recorded' a NICE sound; now they would be put to the test - what did they sound like LIVE? Their official site had great photos of them and I'm thinking, "Cute guys, but can they really sing?" I was about to find out!

After checking into my hotel, I grab a cab down to Lot61. I see a line and head on over and who do I see in line, but Nancy, Lydia, and Denise (friend of Nancy's and Webmaster of JTB!) We are waiting several minutes when I remember that we are "on a list", so I boldly go to the front of the line and lo and behold, we ARE on the winners' list! The place is not very big and is soon filled to the max.

Lot61 is known for their 61 varieties of Martini's and a few of us can vouch for the Sour Apple Martini's! Let me tell you, a couple of those and you'd be on the floor! The place did not have a big stage and I'm wondering how these guys are going to pull this off. They not only sing, but have some pretty smooth dance moves to all their songs and I'm thinking there's no way!

They surprised the heck out of us and being the professionals they are, not only made the hair on the back of your neck stand up with their beautiful harmony, but also managed some incredible dance moves on a stage the size of a postage stamp! That was the main complaint - the stage and venue were a bit small for the invited crowd. Everyone was there for a good time and they did not disappoint us. MDO showed they had the classiest fans around, considering the crowd. Their interaction with the audience was wonderful, sending several fans home with memories of hands held and kisses from Anthony.

The current members of this group are perfect together because there is a man for all tastes. You have Abel who is the baby face of the group, so sweet that you want to take him home to Mom! There is Didier (who is my personal favorite). His dark brooding good looks and the depth in his eyes hide lots of passion. It has to be his Cuban heritage! Then we have Pablo whose vocals blow you away. He's vibrant, energetic, athletic looking, and did I forget very handsome? Last, but not least, there is Anthony who is sensual and it's immediately obvious that he's the "heartthrob" of this group. He makes his presence known on stage with the way he focuses on a fan, sings to her, kisses her hand, and leaves her with sweet dreams! He gives the audience just enough to make their imaginations run wild with his tummy peeks and a smile to melt your heart.

I LOVE the 5th Anniversary CD and so far my favorite cuts are Te Quise Olvidar and Baila. I applaud them for adapting to the small stage and still giving a memorable performance! Thank you guys! I will be there to see you again when you come into my area.
